UN investigates whether Chagos deal amounts to human rights violation

The United Nations is reviewing whether Sir Keir Starmer’s Chagos Islands deal breaches international human rights laws in a move that could jeopardise it. Officials are assessing allegations that the Prime Minister is committing a “crime against humanity” for attempting to evict native Chagossians from the archipelago as part of his plans to cede the British territory to Mauritius.
