Ships face ‘voluntary’ charges under plan for post-war Hormuz

Energy-importing states and shipping companies using the Strait of Hormuz will be asked to pay a voluntary fee rather than transit tolls under an Omani proposal to unlock the waterway. Muscat is suggesting a compromise plan that would give Oman and Iran access to a new multibillion-dollar revenue stream while remaining within international maritime law.
