Gulf takeover of Hollywood accused of ‘gaslighting the American public’

Gulf states could be handed majority ownership of CNN and Channel 5 under proposals that have been attacked in Congress as “gaslighting the American public”. The Hollywood studio Paramount is seeking pre-approval for its partners Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar to increase their 49.5pc stake in Warner Bros once a $111bn (£81bn) takeover is completed.
