Britain is ‘lagging seriously behind’ in civil defence

Britain is “lagging seriously behind” Europe in civil defence in the event of conflict or a national crisis, experts have warned. Nick Gould, who trained in civil defence during the Cold War, said he was concerned British people are not prepared for major fuel or food shortages these days because they have got too used to the convenience of modern life.
