The human cost of reality TV’s ‘extreme outcomes’

The contestants on Channel 4’s Married at First Sight (MAFS) UK are discouraged from ever referring to it as a reality TV show. The term producers would rather hear them use, at least while the cameras are rolling – and the cameras are nearly always rolling – is “the experiment”.
