For a little less than 48 hours, the Gulf states contemplated a destructive all-out war on their most precious resources. Iran had responded to Donald Trump’s ultimatum demanding the Strait of Hormuz be reopened with threats to expand missile and drone attacks to oil, gas, water and even nuclear facilities.
